Men's Fire Circle

Men have sat around fire and said true things for as long as there has been fire. Somewhere along the way we stopped, and a lot of us have been carrying it alone since.

The day itself

We build the fire in the wood, sit on logs, and go round. You speak when the wood is in your hands and nobody answers, advises or fixes you. That single rule changes everything.

There is silence in the middle of it, longer than is comfortable at first. Then drum, then a second round that is usually shorter and truer than the first.

Nothing leaves the wood. We close standing, put the fire out together, and eat something hot before anyone drives home.

Rhythm of the day

  • 18:30 Gather, walk in, build the fire
  • 19:15 First round, one voice at a time
  • 20:30 Silence and drum
  • 21:15 Second round
  • 22:00 Close, embers out, food

Who this is for

  • Men who have nowhere to put the heavy things
  • Fathers, sons, men in the middle of change
  • Anyone who has never done this and suspects they should
